FIELD NOTES
Short observations from shared life with a little human.
THE NEON PART
A part of the toy was missing.
I said I needed to find the red part.
He noticed a neon green piece from the toy and said, “there it is.”
It was not the red part.
It was still a part.
He knows red. He has shown that in other moments.
But this moment was not only about color accuracy.
The search had a function.
A missing piece needed to be found.
He understood that a loose piece from the toy belonged to the search.
The match was not exact.
The participation was real.
