YOUR FOOTPRINT IN THE SAND

YOUR FOOTPRINT IN THE SAND
July 30, 2025

You’ve made many imprints
since you were conceived.

Pressed into hearts
before anyone could write your name down.
Before the ultrasounds.
Before the kicks.
Long before your feet ever touched the ground.

You’ve left marks
in ways you’ll never recall.
Softening us,
bending time around you.

And then,
on a day when the wind touched us gently
and the ocean breathed in and out,
you stood still long enough
to press this into the earth.

Your footprint in the sand.
Brief. Crooked.
Perfect.

Not from walking.
Just from standing.
Just from being.

The tide reached for it.
Pulled it under.
Now it’s gone.
But the shape you leave in this world
will never wash away.
