So big, yet so big

so big, yet so small
june 21, 2025

He was in one arm.
The camera in the other.

We had just stepped into the sunlight,
onto the aluminum transition in the doorway.

I noticed a spot on the wall,
smaller than a seed.
Smaller than a crumb.

I looked.
Focused, manually.
Focused, digitally.
Clicked.

A fruit fly.
The tiniest one I’ve ever seen.
Barely visible,
but I could still see it was a kind I had never seen before.

What a life,
to be carrying your whole world
and still notice something so small.
